Ask Jeeves the search engine recently acquired by Barry Dillers InterActive Corp is rebranding itself as Askcom This does not exactly come as a shock since Diller had said such a move was under consideration and the site has often called itself Askcom in recent years
Im kind of relieved about it myself because it will presumably end the strange story of the sites odd relationship with Jeeves the immortal gentlemans gentleman who appeared in stories by British humorist Wodehouse...

Ask No Questions; Jeeves Meets His End
This time the butler didnt do it instead the smoking gun bears the rebranding fingerprints of chairman Barry Diller
Numerous sources cited today the longanticipated renaming of Ask Jeeves to Askcom TheStreetcom reported how Mr Diller commented about this at the Communacopia Conference in New York
But the renaming hasnt taken place yet Mr Diller didnt give a timetable on when the butler would be retired He did note how important the search engine will be to the future online efforts of his company
It is potentially the glue for almost all of our services he said at the conference...
